Despite having a sales tax rate 0.5% to 1.25% less that competing submarkets, the average retail worker in Centennial accounts for half the sales by dollar value of workers in neighboring markets. This has a huge impact in sales tax revenue, i.e. the average sales tax per retail worker per unit of sales tax is just $1,486 in Centennial compared to $3,617 nearby. The IE study is uncovering missing retail categories and providing strategic recommendations for retail expansion to feed into economic development and community planning with the potential to make a difference.
